I saw an inspirational production of 1984 by the brilliant @boxtalesoup theatre company at the Edinburgh Festival mixing human actors with life size puppets. The character of O’Brien was faithfully played as truly ghoulish and haunting: “If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face—forever.” So what would an O’Brien of the future look like?
